Ian Hylton - Senior Associate

Ian is an experienced commercial property solicitor who represents clients in both landlord and tenant matters.

He also acts in both commercial property acquisitions, including the financing of the same and in the sale of commercial property. His clients include private individuals, corporations and pension trusts.

As he operates in a non-contentious environment, Ian likes to keep a “business head on his shoulders”. Whilst keen to identify potential problems he is equally enthusiastic about finding pragmatic solutions that allow transactions to proceed. He sees himself as a solicitor that deals with people who have an interest in commercial property, rather than a commercial property solicitor.

Ian started his working life as a police officer. Having not taken up a place at university when he was younger, he studied for his law degree by distance learning and subsequently completed his legal training whilst working for a well-established firm in Marlow, Buckinghamshire. He has since broadened his business understanding by completing an MBA with Oxford Brookes University.

Outside of work, Ian is an enthusiastic cook if “somewhat lacking in skill”. His four children having now all flown the nest, he has been spotted on the Polish/Ukrainian border, in a relief kitchen, and can also be found practising his cooking skills in his local community kitchen.
