Sandra Patton - Head of Medical Negligence
Sandra is Head of the Ashtons Legal Medical Negligence team and has specialised in claimant clinical negligence law since 1991. Prior to this she was a qualified barrister.
Described as ‘one of the top claimant lawyers in the country’ she has conducted many high value and high profile cases, getting ‘great results from difficult cases’, attracting national publicity and winning record damages in a clinical negligence case.
Sandra has a special interest and expertise in birth injury and children cases and has dealt with claims across a broad range of medical treatment. The past year’s settlements have included a £9.37m settlement for an adult brain injured client and a £9.7m birth injury settlement.
Noted as ‘completely committed to her clients’, she has campaigned to publicise the dangers of a fragmented health service as private providers are increasingly involved and how this policy can compromise patient safety and blur accountability when things go wrong. She has commentated in local and national media on this and other topical issues. She has been chief contributor to the production and filming of a BBC documentary on private health providers. Sandra has written and presented training for GPs and other medics and Citizens Advice Bureaux advisors. She is a member of AvMA’s and the Law Society’s Clinical Negligence Panel.
