Sandra Patton - Consultant

Sandra Patton is a consultant in our Medical Negligence team.

Described as ‘one of the top claimant lawyers in the country’ she has conducted many high value and high profile cases, getting ‘great results from difficult cases’, attracting national publicity and winning record damages in a medical negligence case.

Sandra has a special interest and expertise in birth injury and children cases and has dealt with claims across a broad range of medical treatment.

Past settlements have included:

  • a £22million award for a child brain damaged as a result of failure to and act on signs of fetal distress
  • a settlement of £17.5million following a contested trial on behalf of a child who suffered severe brain injury when his mother was sent home by the hospital in active labour.

Noted as ‘completely committed to her clients’, she has campaigned to publicise the dangers of a fragmented health service as private providers are increasingly involved and how this policy can compromise patient safety and blur accountability when things go wrong. She has commentated in local and national media on this and other topical issues. She has been a chief contributor to the production and filming of a BBC documentary on private health providers. Sandra has written and presented training including for GPs and other medics, law students and Citizens Advice Bureaux advisors.

Sandra is an accredited lawyer on the esteemed specialist panel for AvMA (Action Against Medical Accidents).
