Penny Tilmouth - Associate

Penny is an Associate in our Medical Negligence team.

Penny is experienced across a wide variety of medical negligence claims including those involving cerebral palsy, other birth injuries, adult and child brain injury, surgical injuries including amputation, orthopaedic injuries, delays/failures in diagnosis/treatment, psychiatric damage, Fatal Accident and secondary victim claims.

Having qualified as a Solicitor in October 1996, Penny spent six years working in Medical Negligence in London progressing to an Associate, and a further eight years working in Medical Negligence in Cambridge.

Penny re-located to Suffolk in 2015 with her young family where she owned and managed a holiday accommodation and fishing business.

Having sold the business in 2020 she is excited to be returning to the legal profession as part of a forward-thinking established team to continue to deliver excellent results for clients.

Penny has spent around 14 years working for Medical Negligence firms and has a unique understanding of how both sides of the matter approach their claims.

She prides herself on her attention to detail, and empathetic approach, good communication and being able to make her clients feel comfortable to discuss their claims with her.

Penny is focused on achieving the best result for her client and appreciates that bringing a medical negligence claim can be a daunting prospect.

She takes the time to listen to her clients, understand their concerns and what they want to achieve, whether it be financial compensation, an explanation/apology or a change in working practices to ensure the same thing does not happen to someone else.

Outside of work, Penny is a keen independent traveller, skier/snowboarder (until children came on the scene!) and enjoys getting stuck into home renovation projects. She also likes walking her spotty Dalmatian, spending time with her young family (mainly acting as chauffeur) and reading if she gets a spare five minutes!
