Nicki Frearson - Paralegal
Nicki is a senior paralegal in our Private Wealth Disputes team.
Having begun her career in law as an office junior at an Essex-based firm, Nicki has built a breadth of knowledge through working across various areas of the law on her journey to becoming a senior paralegal. Nicki joined Ashtons Legal in 2016 and, since 2018, has specialised in Private Wealth Disputes, completing the CPQ Foundation Level and achieving a Diploma in Law.
Nicki is an integral part of the team, supporting all other members as required but predominantly working alongside Polly Stephenson on a broad range of contentious probate and trust matters. These include claims under the Inheritance (Provisions for Family and Dependants) Act 1975 and those relating to the validity, construction and rectification of Wills. She also regularly assists with claims under the Trusts of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act 1996 and Court of Protection matters. Nicki is excellent with clients and at communication; she instinctively understands what our clients require and is often their first port of call.
Having assisted in a number of notable reported cases, some of which are referred to below, Nicki is adept at assisting lawyers at all levels, including Kings Counsel, on a range of disputes from the county court to the High Court and the Appeal Courts nationwide.
Prominent cases in which Nicki has assisted include:
- Leonard v Leonard (representing the Defendants) – High Court (Chancery Division)
- Hudson v Hathway (representing Hathway) – High Court (Queen’s Bench Division)
- Hewson v Wells & Ors (representing Hewson) – Royal Courts of Justice
- Smith v Bowser & Anor (representing Smith) – Court of Appeal
- Shaka Xavier Dorant v Desiree Rachel Dorant & Ors (representing Dorant) – High Court (Chancery Division).
