James Brighton - Apprentice Solicitor

James is an Apprentice Solicitor in our Employment Law team, primarily based in the Norwich office.

James initially joined Ashtons Legal as a Paralegal in the Wills, Trusts and Probate team in December 2021 following the firm’s merger with Steeles Law. Before that, he spent just over three years working in marketing for another Norwich-based law firm.

In July 2023, James joined the Corporate & Commercial team, where he primarily supported David Sloman, Mark Watson, Damian Humphrey, and Tracy Williamson. He has a particular interest in early-stage investments, assisting clients with structuring deals and navigating the complexities of business transactions. James commenced his training contract with the firm in September 2024.

Outside of work, James stays active through running, swimming, and other forms of exercise—though he admits it’s often more of an attempt than a passion. He also enjoys live music and food (usually opting for quantity over quality), and regularly updates his food-based Instagram account.
