£50,000 obtained for former Norfolk carpenter

Martyn Hayward, an asbestos-related disease claim specialist at Ashtons Legal, has obtained £50,000 for the estate of Mr T, who died in his late 70s as a result of his exposure to asbestos over 50 years ago.

Mr T was employed as an apprentice carpenter by a firm in North Norfolk. Part of his job was to cut Asbestolux for soffits on new build houses. He wasn’t warned about the dangers of asbestos and wasn’t provided with any respiratory protection.

Martyn comments: “The firm which employed Mr T as a carpenter has more recently been taken over by a much larger construction business, but fortunately it was possible to show where the responsibility lay and the firm has appropriate insurance to cover instances like this.”
