£240,000 obtained for injured Suffolk man

  • Posted

Ashtons Legal has obtained a settlement of just over £240,000 for a Suffolk pedestrian who was hit by a vehicle and suffered a brain injury as a result.

Mr K’s claim was not straightforward because he was unable to remember what had happened to him, and the evidence gathered by the police was also unclear. We were able to agree a settlement with the vehicle owner’s insurers without the claim going to court.

Richard Foyster, who heads the Ashtons personal injury team, says: “While this was not a straightforward claim, at least it was clear which vehicle had been involved in hitting Mr K. All too often in incidents involving pedestrians, we find we are dealing with ‘hit and run’ claims. In these instances, if the police are unable to trace the vehicle and driver responsible, we have to claim through the Motor Insurers Bureau, and the settlement values are generally lower”.
