£1.1m settlement obtained for injured Suffolk man

Personal injury specialists at Ashtons Legal, have helped to ensure future treatment and support for a man who had to have a below knee amputation following an incident in which his motorcycle was hit by a car.

The man, in his 50s, has now started to rebuild his life and is adapting to the use of his prosthetic limb following physiotherapy and pain management.

The settlement will enable him to move to a single storey property with wheelchair access. It will also help to bridge the gap between what he would have earned in his previous job, which he is no longer able to do, and what he hopes to be able to earn in the future having had to learn new skills.

Ashtons comments: “No financial settlement can truly compensate a fit, active, healthy man for the loss of mobility and associated problems such as phantom pain that result from a traumatic injury such as this and the resulting amputation. However, this outcome will go some way towards enabling him to have a reasonable quality of life and the continued medical treatment and care that he needs.”
