After nearly two years of negotiations, a deal on the reform of the CAP (Common Agricultural Policy) was finally agreed in Brussels on 26 June 2013. The final document is, however, being translated into all languages before formal approval is given by the European Parliament and Council. One of the main elements likely to affect claimants is that only someone who can be defined as an ‘Active Farmer’ will be able to claim post 2013 and a negative list of business activities will be introduced covering those who will be prevented from claiming.
