Settlement obtained for woman who suffered facial injuries while on holiday in Dubai

Ashtons Legal has obtained a modest injury claim settlement for a woman who fractured her nose and ended up with a mild nasal deformity, scarring on her face and some breathing issues after walking into a glass door.

Ms W was staying in a hotel in Dubai and was making her way from one area of the hotel to another. She took what appeared to be a shortcut through open glass doors, but one of them turned out to be a closed door and she walked straight into it, injuring her face. The door was colourless, transparent and there was no signage to alert hotel residents to the fact that it was there.

The hotel staff admitted anecdotally that it wasn’t the first time this had happened to a hotel guest, although the hotel management denied this.

As with many overseas claims, the starting point was to take action against the tour operator responsible for the holiday package purchased by Ms W. While bringing a claim for an injury incurred on holiday abroad is not always straightforward, it is often possible to obtain a sensible result if you take advice from a lawyer with experience in these types of claim.
