Over £30,000 obtained for construction worker following on-site injury

Tim Gleave, a personal injury specialist at Ashtons Legal, has obtained a settlement for Mr T, a Norfolk man who fell and fractured his shoulder while using a designated walkway on a building site.

Mr T was initially reluctant to bring a claim against his employer but eventually did so when it became clear that he was going to continue to suffer problems as a result of his fall even though his shoulder fracture healed well.

Tim comments: “By their nature, building sites are hazardous places but they should have designated walkways built of compacted type one aggregate for employees to move around a site safely. On this site, a cheap hardcore rubble was used – in particular on a walkway that crossed a roadway used by heavy plant. Bad weather and the volume of traffic made this walkway dangerous and Mr T slipped and fell. Mr T’s employers both denied liability and also felt that he was partially to blame for the accident but fortunately we were nevertheless able to agree on a settlement.”
