£75,000 obtained for herdsman injured by a bull

Roger Loomes and his team of personal injury specialists at Ashtons Legal have obtained a £75,000 settlement for Mr P who was injured whilst working as a herdsman.

Mr P was moving cows into a milking parlour. However, the second group of cattle that he went to round up included a bull alongside the cows. Mr P had not been warned that the bull was not always good-natured but found this out to his cost when it charged him. He was pushed into a wall, where the bull tried to continue its charge.

Mr P was injured in the charge, in particular suffering a fractured shoulder blade.

Mr P continues to suffer problems with his shoulder which has not fully healed and has been unable to return to his previous job.

Roger comments: “It was not difficult to show in this instance that Mr P’s employers had not taken sufficient precautions to protect him from the bull. Compliance with appropriate health and safety guidance is always important in the workplace, whatever the working environment, and it is unfortunate that we still see many instances where this is not the case and people are badly injured as a result.”
