£15,000 settlement obtained for man who required fasciotomies

Julie Crossley, a medical negligence specialist at Ashtons Legal, successfully represented Mr T in his claim against his local hospital relating to a leg injury.

Mr T suffered a knee injury and was seen in his local Accident & Emergency Department. His x-ray showed no bone injury and there were no concerns about the blood supply to his foot at that point but then went on to suffer from a cold foot. Subsequent tests, including an invasive angiogram, showed that he needed a thrombectomy to restore the blood supply to his foot. He also had to have fasciotomies and a fixator was applied. He still suffers from a dropped foot.

Julie explains: “The medical experts instructed on this claim said that Mr T’s dropped foot was caused in part by his knee injury and could not have been avoided altogether. However, the delay in diagnosing the problem worsened the damage to his peroneal nerve. With earlier treatment, the need for fasciotomies could have been avoided.”
