Over £195,000 injury claim settlement obtained for injured car passenger
Personal injury claim specialist, Kerry Jones, has settled the claim of Mr T, who was a passenger in a vehicle which was involved in a high-speed accident.
His most obvious injury was a fractured elbow, which prevented him from returning to his usual job in the short term. Less immediately obvious was the fact that he had also suffered a brain injury, which resulted in increasingly serious symptoms as time went on. In particular, Mr T began to suffer speech and comprehension difficulties.
His lawyer was Kerry Jones. She explains: “Mr T’s personal injury claim was complicated by the fact that while showing the symptoms of a subtle brain injury, he also developed frontotemporal dementia. We required neurological, psychological, neuropsychological and speech therapy reports to establish which of his symptoms were the result of the vehicle collision and which could be attributed to the onset of dementia.
“Unfortunately, Mr T lost the ability to make decisions about his personal injury claim, and a litigation friend was appointed to represent him. The driver’s insurers eventually settled the claim, but sadly, Mr T died before receiving his injury claim settlement. Ashtons was able to assist his litigation friend with the probate process so that the money could be paid to the loved ones that Mr T had left behind, in the way he would have wished.”
