Norfolk family seek former colleagues of Norwich bricklayer diagnosed with mesothelioma
Reggie Harvey lived in Costessey from 1957 until his death, following a diagnosis of asbestos-related mesothelioma last year. Ashtons Legal is now trying to assist his family to contact anyone who remembers working with Reggie when he was a bricklayer at Norwich-based W F Pointer & Sons Ltd between the mid-1950s and the early 1980s.

Ruth Hinchliffe is the family’s lawyer and explains: “Reggie was only diagnosed with mesothelioma just before he died. Neither he nor his family had previously considered that any exposure he might have had to asbestos during his working life would suddenly affect his health and bring his retirement years to a premature end. The diagnosis came as a shock, and his family is keen to understand when and how the asbestos exposure occurred”.
Reggie’s wife, Margaret, pre-deceased him, but his daughter, Amanda, still lives locally while her brother, Michael, lives abroad.
After leaving W F Pointer & Sons Ltd in the mid-1980s, Reggie went on to work for Norwich City Council, working as a foreman on various refurbishments, such as the Crome Centre Bowling Alley. He received a ‘Foreman of the Year’ certificate in 1987 for this project.
Anyone who remembers working with Reggie, or remembers working with asbestos at W F Pointer & Sons, between the 1950s and 1980s, is invited to contact Ruth Hinchliffe at Ashtons Legal by emailing ruth.hinchliffe@ashtonslegal.co.uk or by calling 01223 431215.
