Ashtons Legal is delighted to announce the appointment today of Ayesha Brown, a new partner in the firm’s top-tier Agriculture and Estates team.

Ayesha will be based in Ashtons’ Bury St Edmunds office and will work with farmers, landed estates, rural property owners and agricultural businesses across the firm’s locations in Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk.

Ayesha is ranked in the Legal 500 as a ‘Recommended Lawyer’, a Member of the Agricultural Law Association, a Full Member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, a Full Member of the Association of Lifetime Lawyers and a Dementia Friend. She acts for a wide range of rural clients and has a particular interest in advising on tax matters, focusing on succession and farm partnerships, capital tax planning, inheritance tax and trust advice and multi-jurisdictional estate planning.

Jeanette Dennis, Head of Ashtons’ Agriculture and Estates team, says: “I am delighted to welcome Ayesha to the team. With over 25 years’ experience in the legal sector, she will help to build on the great work the team already do”.

Jeanette adds: “We are seeing an increasing number of clients needing to navigate complex post-Brexit tax implications with many farmers having to move away from traditional farming into diversified income streams. Succession planning is important in order to plan for the next generation, so we work closely with accountants to restructure farming businesses and help preserve family farms. Ayesha has been providing practical tax solutions to farmers, landowners and high-net-worth individuals for many years, so her appointment enhances the services we already offer our clients in the farming and entrepreneurial community”.

Ayesha says: “I am delighted to join Ashtons Legal, a Tier 1 firm with an impressive reputation of excellence, and who value their clients and appreciate their long-standing relationships”.

Ayesha adds: “The opportunity to join Jeanette’s team and work locally with the agricultural community across our beautiful region of East Anglia was one I was very keen to take up. Tax legislation is continuously revised just as personal life events evolve, and to be able to take care of the needs of our clients in a full-service firm with exceptional experts alongside is an exciting prospect. I look forward to supporting Ashtons Legal and building on the existing great client relationships we have and welcoming new clients to the firm”.

James Tarling, CEO, adds: “I would like to extend my warm wishes to Ayesha and welcome her to the Ashtons Legal team. Her appointment – hot on the heels of Corporate partner Nick Palmer, who joined us just a few weeks ago – is part of our continued strategic investment in the region into exceptional people who share our vision and values”.
