£125,000 settlement for motorcycle injury claim

Mick Upton, a personal injury specialist solicitor at Ashtons Legal, has obtained a settlement of £125,000 for Mr P, who was injured in a motorcycle collision near Colchester. This was £100,000 more than the insurers representing the driver who hit him initially offered.

Mr P suffered fractures to his leg and ankle when a car cut across a mini roundabout and drove into his motorbike, knocking him to the ground, as he was approaching his exit to the roundabout. With an injured fibula and the tibia fracture extending into his ankle joint, Mr P had mobility issues for a considerable time and may potentially have longer-term complications.

Mick explains: “Mr P’s case was quite unusual. It became clear that the police had failed to investigate the incident fully, and their report contained conflicting information. The driver who hit him insisted throughout the claim that he had the right of way. It was necessary to obtain independent evidence to support Mr P’s claim and eventually get the car driver’s insurers to agree to settle the claim at a sensible sum.
