Suffolk farmer shortlisted for national environment award
Posted 29/11/2012
Last year’s winner of the Suffolk FWAG (Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group) Champion of Champions Award, John Holmes and his family farming partners, have been shortlisted for the national 2012 Silver Lapwing Awards.
John and his family were delighted to receive the Suffolk FWAG award for the last 30 years of farm conservation at the awards ceremony last year, which were sponsored by Ashtons Legal. Through achieving this accolade, the Holmes’ farm has now been nominated by Suffolk FWAG for this years’ national Silver Lapwing competition. The winner will be announced at a special reception in Loddington, Leicestershire on 6th December.
Jeanette Dennis, an Agriculture and Estates Partner at Ashtons Legal says: “This nomination is an excellent choice, and reflects the family’s ‘whole farm’ philosophy on conservation in farming. John and his wife, Susan have shown that conservation can co-exist with profitable farming but always remembering that agriculture is the priority discipline. At the same time, conservation management should be as professional as the farming. We wish them the best of luck for the 6th of December.”
