Employment rate ‘highest in east of England’

New figures from the Office for National Statistics have revealed the employment rate is higher in the east of England than any other part of the UK.Data unveiled by the body showed 75 per cent of the people living in the east of the nation are in jobs, while only 66.5 per cent of individuals in the north-east of England have jobs.The east of England was also shown by the organisation to be among the regions in the UK with the lowest unemployment figures.While only 6.6 per cent of individuals living in the east of England are out of work, close to 11 per cent of people in the north-east are looking for jobs.It was also found that the east of England has a lower inactivity rate – at 19.6 per cent – than anywhere else in the UK, with the north-east at the top of the statistics on 25.2 per cent.The Eastern Daily Press recently reported on jobs being created as a result of the opening of a new bed factory by Mattressman.Posted by Ross Strowger
