Six figure damages settlement for teacher assaulted by a pupil

  • Posted

Roger Loomes, a personal injury claims specialist at Ashtons Legal, has succeeded in obtaining a substantial six-figure sum for Mr P, who suffered life-changing injuries when he was assaulted by a pupil.

Mr P sustained a catalogue of disabling and intrusive symptoms characteristic of brain injury, including impaired concentration and short-term memory, fatigue, headaches, dizziness and anxiety. He remains unable to return to his previous job, and medical experts have concluded that he is unlikely to be able to return to teaching.

Roger comments: “Mr P was still in what should have been the prime of his teaching career when this incident occurred, and much of his settlement relates to potential loss of earnings and pension. The aim of any settlement is to put the injured party back as closely as possible to the position they were in before the incident occurred. Sadly, no amount can reverse the symptoms he has experienced and continues to live with on a daily basis. However, the settlement will do this from a financial viewpoint, removing those pressures and hopefully enabling further rehabilitative support and the rebuilding of his life”.
