Ashtons Legal injury lawyers nominated for national award

  • Posted

Ashtons Legal is among only 11 firms to be shortlisted for a national award.

The firm’s Injury team is a contender for ‘Regional firm of the Year’ in the Legal 500 Awards in the ‘Insurance’ category. The firm is lining up against 11 other firms nationally and is the only claimant injury firm shortlisted in East Anglia.

This news came alongside the publication of The Legal 500 2013, an independent guide to the legal profession, in which Ashtons Legal’s Personal Injury team was billed as ‘Probably the best personal injury firm in East Anglia’. Both the Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence teams received top tier listings in the guide, as they have for many years. The team includes three of the region’s six claimant injury ‘leading individuals’, with three other firms having one each.

Ashtons says: “Our focus is always on enabling injured people to get the support they need after an accident, both in terms of medical care and financial compensation. We are delighted that the Legal 500 recognises our expertise in this area of work but our key challenge at the moment is to ensure that local people are aware of it too.

Unfortunately many people end up being advised by their insurers’ panel lawyers, who are often many miles away and unable to see them face-to-face. This can result in the lawyer not having a true picture of someone’s losses as a result of their accident and their claim being undervalued.  We have many examples of people who have come to us for a second opinion and ended up with a better compensation package than they were being encouraged to accept by their panel lawyer.”
