Successful claim for lady who suffered burns during dental treatment

Ashtons Legal’s Julie Crossley has obtained compensation for a lady who suffered burns on her lower lip during root canal work.  Miss E’s dentist used a Bunsen burner with a naked flame to sterilise a dental instrument but failed to ensure that the instrument had then cooled down sufficiently before bringing it into contact with his patient.  The instrument caught on Miss E’s lip leaving her with a nasty burn which caused her considerable difficulty in both eating and speaking for several weeks.  She has now made a full recovery but has lost confidence in the dentist and will be going elsewhere for the remains of her treatment.
