Katie Emerson - Senior Associate
Katie is a senior associate in the dispute resolution team.
Katie specialises in resolving estate, inheritance and trust disputes, including claims relating to the validity, construction and rectification of Wills and Trusts, the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975, the removal of executor/trustees and proprietary estoppel.
Katie takes a sensitive and practical approach to assisting her clients in resolving their differences in what are often highly emotional circumstances.
Katie sometimes provides advice where a situation has not yet become contentious, but a dispute is ‘on the horizon’. By intervening at an early stage, she can help clients avoid a dispute and preserve existing family relationships.
In addition, Katie advises in relation to Court of Protection matters including Statutory Wills and applications for the removal of deputies/attorneys. She also acts as a professional trustee.
Before moving to Suffolk in 2019, Katie spent six years at a leading London private client firm, Withers, where she was a member of its highly regarded trust, estate and inheritance disputes team.
Katie is named as a ‘rising star’ in the Legal 500 2022 edition and is praised for her ‘calm and patient manner’.
