Jo is an experienced and pragmatic commercial property solicitor, who concentrates on working within the franchising sector and on commercial property development, particularly involving agricultural land.
Jo also sits with our highly regarded franchising team and works closely with our franchising lawyers on the property aspects of franchising projects, to ensure clients’ commercial interests are dovetailed with their property needs to effectively franchise their businesses, and also facilitate investment opportunities for franchisees taking on franchises.
As development projects are often on rural land, Jo’s extensive experience in all aspects of rural property, including dealing with agricultural tenancies (and advising on gaining vacant possession of otherwise secured tenancy land), means she understands the nuances of the issues affecting rural land acquisition, development and diversification.
Jo is a member of the ALA (Agricultural Law Association), the CLA (Country Land and Business Association) and the CPA (Compulsory Purchase Association).
She acts for rural landowners seeking to develop their land and developers seeking to acquire and develop the same, including transactions involving mineral rights. Jo also deals with general commercial property work including freehold and leasehold transactions.
Jo provides corporate support on various matters and the other key area of her work involve acting on the property aspects within the care home sector, she leads the firm’s Care Home sector within the firm which has a property/ development and commercial focus. Our Care Home sector is a full service offering to the wider healthcare industry and we have the benefit of a wealth of experience to support this niche but growing industry sector, ranging from advising failing care homes and CQC status and regulatory aspects to providing employment advice and assisting with acquisition of new development sites or existing care homes, as we well as all aspects of bank lending (we sit on the senior panels for the leading healthcare lenders).
