Over £9,000 obtained for cyclist who sustained a knee injury when knocked off her bike

Kerry Jones, a personal injury specialist at Ashtons Legal, has obtained a settlement of over £9,000 for a former Cambridge University student who was knocked off her bike by a car in Cambridge.

She sustained a fractured knee which required surgery and continued physiotherapy thereafter.

Kerry comments: “This claim was interesting and relatively unusual in two ways. Firstly, Ms T was at a key point in her education at the time the injury occurred she didn’t actually come to see us until two weeks before the three-year post-incident ‘limitation’ window for claiming was about to expire. We managed to get limitation extended in order to proceed with her claim.

“Secondly, the sum received by Ms T was actually 30% of the full value of her claim because the Court decided that 70% of the incident, and therefore the injury, was her own fault as she was on the wrong side of the road. What this shows is that even if you are partially to blame for an incident in which you are injured, it is still worth seeking advice from a specialist injury lawyer”.
