£35,000 settlement obtained for injured horse rider

Tim Gleave, a personal injury specialist at Ashtons Legal, has obtained £35,000 for a woman from Suffolk who was kicked by another rider’s horse.

Mrs L, an experienced horse rider met with a fellow rider who, after seeing Mrs L started to ride toward her. However, the horse began getting too close and this resulted in it kicking out causing a serious fracture in Mrs L’s leg. Surgery was required as a consequence and she has not ridden a horse since.

The matter was settled after court proceedings were issued and Mrs L was awarded £35,000 compensation.

Tim comments: “Unfortunately incidents involving horses are quite common. Whilst Mrs L has made a good recovery, she hasn’t ridden a horse since her injuries were sustained. This has been a big lifestyle change for Mrs L who previously rode every day.”
