£19,000 obtained for lady whose vision was affected by sinus surgery

Julie Crossley, a specialist medical injury lawyer at Ashtons Legal, has obtained £19,000 for Ms T, after her surgery had unexpected negative consequences.

Mrs T had endoscopic sinus surgery to improve her breathing and sense of smell and reduce headaches. However, the surgery was complicated by a resulting fracture of the left medial orbit (eye socket bone) and bleeding. Mrs T suffered extensive bruising around one eye and both pupils became fixed and dilated. She was left with a squint and double vision. Mrs T required a further procedure to correct the damage which had affected her ability to drive, read and work.

Julie comments: “This is quite an unusual type of surgery complication but one which clearly should have been avoidable and resulted in unnecessary pain, suffering and complications for Mrs T as well as the need to undergo a further operation.”
