£330,000 obtained for Essex man who suffered pressure ulcers

A member of the medical injury team at Ashtons, has obtained a settlement of £330,000 for Mr H who developed avoidable pressure ulcers while under the care of the NHS.

Mr H had been involved in an accident which left him tetraplegic and needing spinal treatment and related after care. During this period of treatment and after care, he developed several pressure ulcers; these delayed his spinal rehabilitation and made him more vulnerable to developing further pressure ulcers in the future.

Ashtons comments: “Mr H’s treating hospital acknowledged early on that the pressure ulcers could and should have been avoided but initially offered only £10,000 in settlement, having failed to recognise the full impact of the new injuries on Mr H and his rehabilitation. This settlement demonstrates the value of choosing specialist medical injury lawyers to represent you if you are unfortunate enough to suffer inadequate medical care which has a serious effect on your life.”
